I would really like to see how they installed this.

As far as I know, a web page can't save and install files, so how does the adware get installed in the first place. Does it trick the user into running an app? If so, then I wouldn't consider that a security hole.

We took down who they thought was invincible. That will hurt their ego and their pride. Will they try to retaliate, sure.

Who knows what information we may have found in that mansion that could hurt them.

Source? Methinks projection is at play here.

The word "same" never occurs in the text, which never contemplates multiple installs.

It says you can't use it in a virtual machine. End of story. End of discussion.

Vista Business and Ultimate include additional licenses to also run the same licensed copy of Vista running natively on the licensed device in a virtualization environment as well.

In other words, if you purchase or build a PC with Windows Vista Ultimate, you can use that same installation and license to install it in a virtualization environment on that same platform. That goes beyond what has been done on any other platform for virtualization, and why the limitation is specifically delineated on Vista Home:

You may not use the software installed[1] on the licensed device[2] within a virtual (or otherwise emulated) hardware system.

[1] This means "the software" (i.e., Vista Home Basic or Premium) is already installed on a licensed device.

[2] The "licensed device" is the device that Vista Home is already installed on, and that license may not be reused to also install it in a virtualization environment, which you CAN do with Vista Business and Ultimate, because Microsoft includes additional licenses specifically for virtualization use, which is why there are all these specifics about virtualization use on the lower end Vista versions in the EULA in the first place.

The Vista Business/Ultimate EULA on the same topic states:

    6. USE WITH VIRTUALIZATION TECHNOLOGIES. You may use the software installed on the
licensed device within a virtual (or otherwise emulated) hardware system on the licensed device. If
you do so, you may not play or access content or use applications protected by any Microsoft digital,
information or enterprise rights management technology or other Microsoft rights management
services or use BitLocker. We advise against playing or accessing content or using applications
protected by other digital, information or enterprise rights management technology or other rights
management services or using full volume disk drive encryption.

This is because Vista Business and Ultimate include additional licenses so that you can use the same copy, legally ALSO within a virtualization environment on that same system. This is more than is possible with any other commercial OS, from a licensing perspective. The restrictions on Vista Home are ONLY restricting you from using it in a VM on the device where it's already installed. If you buy Vista Home standalone as a retail box, and it's not installed anywhere else, you are free, legally and technically, to use it in a VM to your heart's content.

Oh please, get off your PC high horse for a second and come back to reality. Yeah, no one should get beat up and bullied. I'd also love for the world to be filled with rainbows and unicorns all the time too. However, if I walk around drunk in a bad part of town flashing a suitcase full of cash, well I shouldn't be shocked that I get robbed. I know people don't like to take personal responsibility for their actions these days and everyone's ready to sue someone else because nothing is ever their fault. But most reasonable people should realize that being drunk in the ghetto as a transgendered guy isn't the brightest idea.

    Not "the brightest idea"?

What difference does it make exactly?

Does it make her any less assaulted?

Does it make a video of of her assault and outing any less all over the internet?

Does it make the perpetrators justified?

Does it make it OK that nobody properly intervened?

But none of that is important really. You think she's stupid. You think expecting a basic level of human rights and dignity, that's the same as expecting the world to be filled with rainbows and unicorns all the time.

Just dimiss it and carry on with your life.

    There's nothing you can change.

    Donating (http://www.glccb.org/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=34&Itemid=97) probably (http://www.survivorproject.org/support.html) doesn't help.

Writing to your (http://www.senate.gov/) representatives (http://www.house.gov/)? What's the point?

    Volunteering (http://www.glccb.org/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=30&Itemid=48) isn't an option.

Letting McDonalds know (http://www.mcdonalds.com/us/en/contact_us.html) your custom requires them to work to prevent this in the future, why bother?

And, most pointless of all, developing your own understanding of trans issues, becoming a trans advocate and ally in your own life, and simply unreservedly condemning discrimination and violence against trans people without telling people how it is their own fault.. well, that's like rainbows and unicorns.

The world is an awful place. And you have your own problems, we've all got our own problems. People should just be more careful. Less stupid.

Finally, this is what I have been waiting for.

Not listed on UK store yet, but $69 on US store. Going by that, (being same price as shuffle), UK should be 49. Heck, that's a lot for a mouse, but only 10 more than regular BT mouse and 15 than wired MM, for that you get laser too.

Not sure how often I would use it, too comfortable with trackpad and hot corners, but I will get one anyway. Be handy for later with iMac.

The ticker is AAPL, and it's traded on Nasdaq, not NYSE.

Actually Nasdaq is an index, not a trading cite. The NYSE is an exchange (much like one we'd find in London, Tokyo, etc). What Apple is not listed under is the Dow 30 (commonly referred to only as "the Dow" or "Dow Jones Industrial Average"), which lists the 30 largest companies of the US based on industry and importance (current ones include WalMart, GE, CitiGroup, etc).

Amazon sells mostly LAME encoded 256kbs mp3 files, which are pretty comparable to the AAC files ITMS sells. AAC may have a slight advantage (for example see http://www.head-fi.org/forum/thread/271330/256-vbr-aac-vs-320-mp3-vs-256-vbr-mp3#post_3459768), but not much.

    Si!

When are they gonna start selling lossless??
Is that true, about the 256bit? I thought they were still 128. That has kept me from even looking at Amazon.
Agree - christmas music is quite annoying.

And the selection of Saturnalia music is quite thin.
Well, since Christmas = Saturnalia, it's all Saturnalia music.

Top it off Mp3 is smaller at the same bit rate

    And therefore lower quality.

Who gives a crap if you thought up a great idea if all you are going to do is sit on it and never use it.

Why are you trying to turn the assault into bullying / an LGBT hate crime? I know MacRumors PRSI is obsessed with the issue, but there's no evidence for it.

According to The Smoking Gun (http://www.thesmokinggun.com/buster/mcdonalds/mcdonalds-employee-filmed-brutal-beating-640128) the McDonald's employee sacked was Vernon Charm Hackett, who had the following to say on his Facebook page:

The day that I have to go out and buy virus protection for OS X is the day I consider going back to Windows.

Switching to Windows because you have to use antivirus software on your Mac would just be like jumping out of the frying pan and into the fire.

During the 15 years or so that Macs were around before the advent of OS X, most Mac users had antivirus software running on their computers. It was necessary, it was no big deal, and it was certainly no reason to start using a Windows box.

An eleven-year-old boy in Northern California accidentally downloaded (http://www.necn.com/06/05/10/Boy-accidentally-downloads-99900-Smart-p/landing.html?blockID=247714) the $999.99 BarMax bar exam preparation application (iTunes link (http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/barmax-ca/id345722008?mt=8)) using an iPod touch. He didn't mean to make the purchase and was surprised when it started to download the 1GB app. His mother was equally shocked, especially after she learned the price and that her son had not been prompted for an iTunes password.

They paused the download and went to an Apple store but were told that the store couldn't help. However, the boy's mother then emailed Apple and received a return phone call telling her that they would receive a full refund.

Lets hope this is a start of solid trend (I believe it is) but don't be surprised if the market share numbers are a little bumpy (up and down) as they inch their way up... Apple has relatively few products (compared to their main competition in this market) and as a result their product release cycles can contribute a lot of variability into quarterly market share numbers and depending how they line up with seasonal market aspects you can get even more variability.

In other words (as I have said before) look for trends not point to point comparisons.

Great. But that doesnt mean that tablets and PMPs should be lumped with smartphones when you're comparing smartphone OS.
But there is no such thing as a 'smartphone OS' for iOS. The OS runs across three devices (four if you include AppleTV). Just like there's no laptop OS for Windows or Mac OS X.
