This may be veering in a direction the OP does not want to go. If so, please ignore.
Speaking of taxes don't believe any politician who seeks your approval by saying "elect me and I'll lower your taxes". Most likely what they are saying is I'll lower your taxes a smidgen, but I'll give a dump truck of tax breaks to the wealthy who as leaders of industry will do their best to destroy your lively hood by exporting your job overseas.
What you want to hear from politicians on taxes is a discussion framed as "what services do we want from government, what do we want to pay for, how and who will pay for it, and expectation that the government will penalize corporations whose business practices are actively lowering the standard of living in this country."

Right. At the end of the day, customers chose with their wallets, and as of this year, more customers are choosing Android than iPhone (throw out Android tablet and iOS tablet as those are different categories and distort reality).
Where did that come from? Are more people buying android phones because they offer more freedom or are generally cheaper and have a bigger screen? I think if it came down to JUST freedom of choice inside the os, the app store is pretty huge. I don't think the vast majority of people buy a phone for what it can do after you hack into it.

Except that neither cares about watching YOU.
You don't believe a company whose sole source of revenue is providing advertising and data search services cares about keeping an eye on you???
Ignorance truly is bliss.

Is there anything it's not terribly good at?
It doesn't appear to be too good at dealing with Time Machine back ups (http://recoveringphysicist.com/17/did-sophos-free-a-v-for-mac-kill-my-time-machine-backups). Tread with caution.

No need for the rolling eyes there… Some of us already have.
Apple is not the end all be all. Sometimes change is good. ;)
Bad move to keep the iPhone out for 2 years.
I agree.
There is no way Apple can take a break from this cycle.
What is that saying about he who rides the tiger?

Agreed at the latest. Gotta have the easy access HD bay like the MacBook or I will not adopt. :D
I've just been wanting one for so long, and all I've been waiting for is a processor trade-out, that I'll be happy with just that. Of course I'll be quite please if they implement the easy access HD bay. Better still, a better gfx card would make me pee my pants a little.

With Pandora or just having an iPhone/iPod, I don't see a point streaming music, max 20Gb, what if there is not internet, what if you stop subscribing. Doesn't sound like a breakthrough idea to me.

when the white iphone comes out, will we see slightly improved hardware as well? (64gb? Better ANTENNA?) Let me know your thoughts... Will it be soon??? Thanks ! 1. Apple has yet to release any official sales numbers on iPad 2 - at least I haven't come across this anywhere (this would be a perfect piece of anecdotal information at the beginning of a media event)
2. Phil Schiller said "white iPhone 4 coming spring 2011" (it's now officially Spring and we still haven't seen the white iPhone and therefore would make a nice 'Easter egg' with immediate availability also mentioned at the beginning of a media event)
3. Apple has typically held iOS media event previews in April (not saying they would never break cycle, just stating the obvious)
IDK, if I were a betting man, I'd say all signs still point to an April media event at which (during the beginning) SJ would announce official iPad sales numbers (for both U.S. and International launch weekends) as well as immediate availability of said white iPhone before proceeding to dive into some of the intricacies of iOS 5. Just my $0.02.

Note that MS is dropping the standalone Zune hardware, and moving the Zune interface into Windows Phone 7.
The Zune was a market flop though, and MS need to focus their efforts if only tp stop the shareholders from getting antsy.
If your phone can do it all, why make standalone music players?
Because there will always be cases where for whatever reason one might not want or need a phone.

I was excited about this at first but... this just seems like an incredibly stupid fad. Instead of spending time to put the music on my PMP, I sync to the digital cloud, then stream the music to said player. Yeah, in an era where unlimited data is becoming more not less scarce, that's just what I need, data surcharges. This just appears to be yet another fad intending to push consumer technology in the wrong direction.

Hi all
This debate about video downloads, DRM, small screens vs. big screens, etc. just makes me suspicious of one thing: the iPod brandname is just too good to take chances with it.
As Steve Jobs said in the original presentation of iPod, music is something that relates to everyone. this product can be sold to anyone, and the related services have to make sense from the point of view of Mac and PC users alike. This doesn't happen with video, IMHO.. there are just too may details that prevent TV and video to appeal to everyone.. different film ratings, different availability of broadband, NTSC vs. PAL TV sets (to plug your "vPod" to), ...
I an't wait to see what is coming out of this new presentation, but I'm hoping for something less revolutionary. It's not the fault of Apple Computer that things are complicated sometimes... the iPod product is good as is, it would be strange to taint its name with a launch of a video service with 1/10 of the reach of iTunes/iPod...

If you can have a bigger screen without a physically larger device size and weight, then yes, it is necessarily better.
Not if it reduces battery life.

Agreed. The Mac Pro case has been perfected over years and doesn't look at all dated. The more Apple has to pour R&D into a small new case with almost certain version 1 cooling issues, the more likely prices will continue to rise.It would save money with the need for less raw materials.

Merom isn't just bragging rights you should check out the comparison in the link that somebody provided. It's about 10% faster for the same price and power consumption. And the next generation of Front Row might take advtange of the 64-bitness.
Also, I plan on booting Vista with it also, which has a 64-bit version if/when it comes out next year.
