There is a difference between sales and market share. Without a doubt, part of the appeal of android is cost - it's just cheaper to buy. However, it's not as simple as you suggest
Some people buy it so they can have a larger screen, some because they want a keyboard, some because they have specific hardware needs (e.g. The US Army), some because they do not want to live under of the heel of Steve Jobs twisted moral code. I could go on, but it's become the proverbial dead horse. Sure, Android has pitfalls in that it can run almost anything, but I would rather have the freedom to make a bad app choice than to live in the walled garden that iOS is becoming.
In short, the freedom to make choices, even bad ones, is superior to being spoon fed like a baby as Apple tends to do.
Then too each their own. Obviously, you don't care for Apple's way of doing it and we could argue the pluses and minuses, but I don't think Apple's way is the wrong way. It's different and seems to be working fairly well too given they are company to beat in many categories right now. And as much as you love all the freedom with the Android based phones, I also think that is one of their problems. But again, we could debate forever.
Either way, you consistently feel your point of view is the only point of view. I don't feel "spoon fed like a baby" by using the iPhone. It does everything I want a smart phone to do plus some and there seems to be a ton of consumers out there that agree.
You know, you'd be much more respected here on this forum if you'd stop with the back-handed comments and ridiculous statements. Nothing wrong with having an opinion, but you can do it in a constructive manner and not a childish and shallow way. History repeats itself and the market is like a roller coaster... remember the 1980's? Or even worse the 1930's.... Tech Stock is not going to hold. I am betting on Gold to hit at least 1500.00 in the next coming months and then upwards to the 2000.00 range.

Nothing as serious as a $1k purchase, but my (almost) two year old purchased an album from iTunes, by accident, on my iPad last week. I used the "report a concern" link that was on my receipt to report the problem. I got an email from an Apple rep the next day saying that they would give me a refund, but it would be a "one time exception."

So what? That doesn't make it an HD-DVD player. And if you think the Xbox 360 is the only piece of hardware that can upscale standard DVDs to 720p, think again.
The only thing helping the Xbox 360 right now is the fact that it's the only next-gen console on the market right now.
I clearly state it's not an HD-DVD player, nor do I say it's the only upscaling "player" out there. It IS the only game console that upscales standard DVDs at this point though.

Thunderbolt looks pretty sweet for high-end applications, but I really hope that Apple doesn't try to push this standard INSTEAD of USB 3.0. Future hardware refreshes need to get BOTH of these plugs. As cool as Thunderbolt looks, I'm looking around on my desk and EVERYTHING is USB - my iPhone (OK, I'm sure they will make an adapter for that), my camera, my hard drive, my flash drive, even my PS3 controller.
That, and lack of FaceTime connectivity, concern me.

Apple not releasing a new IPHONE in June would really pull the stock into the garbage. It would be hard to make up that lost revenue for the quarter.
You assume that there would be lost revenue. Or rather lost stock value. A lot of that issue could depend on what is announced for iOS, Mac OS, the whole Final Cut game etc. Not to mention ipad sales for the quarter and if they release any new computers, those sales numbers. The buzz from all that could be enough to carry the stock value.
And who knows they could announced in late june but with a 60ish day to launch. And if the phone was 'magical' enough no one would really take issue with the wait.

I love my AT&T iPhone 4 and 3GS. On the iPhone 4, upgrading to 4.3.1 was flawless with no problems. The 3GS started having battery drain. Within 6 hours, it would be at 60% with just a bit of usage. I would usually be at 60% after 24 hours. I downgraded to 4.1 where I was before. Nothing on 4.3.1 was worth upgrading to. I don't have a supported printer for air printing and for airshare, the only thing I can share back and forth to is my MBP.
Any battery problems on this latest update?
I have had a flawless experience with AT&T over the past few years and will remain with the next iPhone.

While these Sandy Bridge processors are considerably faster in lab benchmarks, they offer no discernible real-world improvement for most users. Having used a MacBook Pro with a C2D and then one of the new Sandy Bridge, I couldn't tell the difference.
As MacBook Air owners know, it's all about the SSD speed for improving the experience for everyday users.

Every time a new product like this from Apple is rumored, it follows a predictable pattern: 1) People look at existing, entrenched offerings by other companies. 2) They assume Apple will add some slightly different functionality and charge a lot more money for the product, and ask, "How many people would pay a premium for something just because it has the Apple logo and does a couple more things than existing products? And why would Apple enter that market, anyway?" 3) Steve Jobs says that Apple has no plans to enter that market. ("Nobody watches TV anymore. Everyone is reading books on their iPads.") 3) Apple announces that it is indeed entering that market, with a magical, game-changing product. 4) People still assume it will be an over-priced slight variation on existing products and predict that it will be an epic fail. 5) Apple releases the product, which is radically different in some ways from anything else that's out there, and/or offers a user experience that is significantly more refined than anything else that's out there. 6) People line up in droves to buy it, and sales go through the roof. 7) The people who predicted it would be an epic fail were among the first in line to buy it (unless they're waiting for the Android version that will come out a year later), and now they're whining that it's been six months already, and there have been no rumors about what might be in rev 2 of the product, which was great in its day but is now getting stale.
In other words, I believe this rumor is credible only if Apple has some new take on the television set that none of us are even guessing at yet. I highly doubt they'd release a conventional TV with only the guts of the AppleTV added to it.

This is why I posted my comment correcting your innaccurate assumption that "the iPod is still Apple's cash cow".
The funny part is that I was in no way "defending" the iPod, since I don't have one at the moment and was just as annoyed at Apple as everyone else that Macs were not centerstage... in '04 and '05.
We're rounding out '06 and that argument hasn't held water since last year.

Exactly. Apple says they will pay 70% to the music companies. They worked out their deals with them at that rate. If another company wants to sell music, they by no means have to get the same deal as every other company selling music. It�s just nuts to think that way.

Could someone clarify this for me: Aren't hard drives too slow to make use of Thunderbolt anyway? In a typical USB 2.0 external hard drive, what is the bottleneck in speed: The speed at which the hard drive spins, or the USB 2.0 connection? If it's the USB, then why do people even care about the RPM of a drive? If it's the RPM, then isn't USB 2.0 fast enough to run a hard drive at its native speed?
A faster HDD with a faster RPM will add to the speed. With USB 2.0 hard drives, USB 2.0 is the bottleneck. With USB 3.0 hard drives, it'll be the drives. For Thunderbolt, it will be the drives. Would be a while before we see any 10Gbps SSDs (hard drives will never be that fast), so USB 3.0 seems more practical for the time being.

6) Wonder why brochures are listed under Business Forms.

Call me crazy, but I'd not be surprised if Leopard was a free update for Tiger owners - if not all Mac owners.
You're crazy. :) But one thing I would like to see is a free upgrade to iLife for everyone who upgrades Leopard. Or else some kind of Leopard / iLife buy-together discount. That would be most welcome.

I've had a look in their 'seven times faster' stuff -- what's the point of comparing a CD 2.16 to C2D 2.33? Apart from that, assuming that it wouldn't spit flames through the vents or sound like a Harrier at take off, I intend to buy one.

they probably fixed the issue months ago, considering its no problem on the iPad 2 and they just haven't released it just yet to have an excuse to push the iPhone 5 further away

Will definitely buy it if it comes out and isn't too expensive. Definitely a market for these devices. My friends keep asking me whether Apple releases a tv. When I point to the Apple TV, they walk away.
